The Wheel of the Year marks Samhain as one of four yearly Sabbats, and arguably, it’s the most important one. It’s a festival of darkness, the opposite of Beltane, a time to mourn and celebrate those we’ve loved and lost, pay respect to our ancestors, friends, and those we hold dear even after they’ve left this world. It’s also believed that the “veil” between worlds is thinner at this time, allowing for easy communication between the living and the dead. Yes, it is in fact the inspiration behind what we now celebrate as Halloween! So put on those costumes so you can ward off evil spirits, light your jack o’ lantern (be it pumpkin- or turnip-based), and remember that this life you’re living is but temporary, for better and for worse.

Scent Notes: A steaming hot cup of slightly bitter black tea with cinnamon, cardamom, and warm honey fresh from the hive, dark chocolate truffles full of espresso and rum, a sunset bonfire full of freshly fallen autumn leaves, woodsmoke, clary sage, guaiac wood, and sandalwood, with swirls of dragon's blood and copal resins, patchouli, and amber in the air.
