In Scandanavian tradition, adults and children who complete their work and chores before Christmas are rewarded with new clothing as part of their presents. Lurking in the countryside in wait is the Yule Cat, who pounces upon unsuspecting houses on Christmas, peering in the windows with his huge cat eyes to make sure that the children received their clothing. If they didn’t, the Yule Cat would eat their dinner, and for dessert, he would eat the child! Because this isn’t your standard cat; this cat is bigger than a house with an unyielding appetite for destruction and bad kids. So when your aunt gives you the ugliest sweater/pair of pants/dress you’ve ever seen, smile politely; she just saved you from the Yule Cat.
