This was not a scent I ordered; it was a promotional scent tossed in with the five sample vials that I had ordered for myself. I smelled it in the bottle, and found that it was very, very masculine in nature. My boyfriend was a sport and let me test it on him. At first, I did smell the dark chocolate note that was mentioned in the scent notes. However, this very quickly transitioned into 100% patchouli oil- which is the ‘peasant dirt’ listed in the scent notes. The buttercream note mentioned never emerged. One of the pros of this fragrance is that it lasts FOREVER. When we woke up in the morning, I could still smell it on him. The other pro is that it has a very strong throw; I could smell the fragrance on him from the opposite side of the couch. Unfortunately, while I appreciate the lasting power and throw of Varys, I am not a fan of patchouli oil. If you are, however, this is definitely a fragrance for you!
