Libertine

Of the five samples I ordered, this was by far my favorite in the bottle.The notes I immediately noticed were warm and sweet- vanilla and honey. But beneath that was something else- I can’t quite put my finger on it, but the feeling it evokes is lying in bed with a man you love, and sleepily nuzzling his chest in the middle of the night. Almost animalistic; warm and deep and musky. I believe that is likely the palo santo.

After about thirty minutes, the vanilla faded into the background, leaving the palo santo at the foreground- but the vanilla lingered just enough to keep the scent feeling warm and slightly feminine. About an hour into wear, a touch of spicy cinnamon began to emerge, alongside something I would almost define as ozone. I never quite got the dark jasmine, but I didn’t miss it.

Libertine’s scent is subtle- not much throw, but it is nonetheless intoxicating. Every time I lifted my wrist, I found myself closing my eyes as I inhaled. Unfortunately, it didn’t last nearly as long as I would have liked. At about the 4 hour mark, the scent had completely dissipated. I seriously contemplated purchasing this in the full size, but due to the weak throw and short wear time, I’m going to order some more samples that contain honey/musk scents to see if I can find one that I like as much that is a little stronger.
