Ice Witch

Scent Notes: A well-guarded fortress atop an icy mountain. A rich, frothy vanilla drink laced with peppermint, fennel, and cardamom. Torches smoke, incense burns.

People say you have a cold heart, but they just don’t understand. And, yes, you prefer cooler climates and you always have to keep a sweater on hand because the odds are good that you’ll get cold regardless of the temperature outside. No matter how hard you try, your body temperature stays low. You’re an ice witch. Well, there are other terms for it, but this is the one you’ve assigned and embraced for yourself.

You keep your heart locked inside a freezing castle, a fortress made of ice and stone, kept far away from everyone else.

While you keep up the facade of being cold, aloof, and untouchable, that’s only because you’ve been deeply hurt in the past. Instead of keeping that fragility and center, you turned cold. You keep up the hard, chilly exterior to keep others out. But, instead of feeling anxiety or guilt over this, you’ve fully embraced it. Why should being an ice witch be a bad thing? Why is keeping the world at bay and away from your heart a “cold” thing to do? Not everyone deserves full access to you and your emotions. Really, who does deserve full access to those things besides you? You know exactly what you want, and how you feel, at all times. You just keep a bland poker face 99.9% of the time. Sure, a lot of people take one look at you and decide you’re cold and calculating, but again: why is this a bad thing?

You know the value in keeping things close to you, in keeping them protected by your frosty magic. There’s a reason behind the old “trick” of storing valuables in your freezer because it’s a safe space where people wouldn’t think to look for valuables. (Well, until it became a well-known thing to do.) Your icy presence is your comfort space, where you can protect yourself from the world and its cruelties. You never intend to melt away your exterior, and why should you? Being comfortable with being aloof is a great skill most people could learn. Keep up your frozen, icy ways; just don’t lose touch with the warm interior that secretly lies within.
