Description
Scent Notes: A single glowing ember radiating heat. Juniper, sweet benzoin resin, and a tiny drop of spicy camphor. A single wisp of smoke.
Embers can be seen as a symbol of ending or beginning; death or renewal; destruction or creation. They’re the hot ashes that burn long after the rest of the fire has died, yet they can be used to begin a new fire. They’re latent with potential to burn everything down, and you know that energy because that’s who you are. The dark, smoldering side of yourself is always lying in wait, ready to burn brighter and reclaim the flames that have left with a darkly sparkling and righteous fury. For most of your life, you tried to hide this part of yourself; you were either a bright flame or burnt wood. Not anymore.
Not since you discovered the power in allowing that edge, the burning embers, to stay alive. You fan them with oxygen, reminding yourself that those embers are there for a reason. They didn’t come from nowhere. Embers don’t just appear out of thin air one day; a fire must precede them. But no one can be on fire forever.
So instead, you keep the embers burning, attending to them gently and with great care. If you don’t, they’ll burn out, and you refuse to stay out of touch with this side of yourself. It takes much longer to start a fire from nothing. And when you need your fire, oh, you need it immediately. Thankfully, the last time the fire was snuffed out, you fought back. You used your internal magic to figure out the flame had died, and you rebuilt it back from nearly nothing. That’s when you really understood the power and magic to be found in the embers, in keeping that angry fire at a low burning in the background. And now you know, as long as you attend to yourself and tune in to what you need, you’ll never burn out again.
