Disclaimer: When we started this line years ago, we had no idea we’d soon enough be in a real pandemic. This series is meant as a fun, silly, lighthearted take on the traditional zombie apocalypse narrative. Enjoy!
Scent Notes: Hot apple cider with a generous splash of Kentucky bourbon, honeyed cloves, dalmation sage, and a touch of cinnamon.
Last week, we met our unnamed heroine, and her former coworker and fellow apocalypse survivor, dudebro Danny.
Danny keeps walking to the campsite, watching her walk away with dinner. He stuffs his pumpkin-colored hand deep into his pocket in shame. Goddamn, he could really go for a latte right now. He shuddered, knowing it might be too late, but he couldn’t admit what had happened. How was he supposed to tell her he hadn’t really been out hunting, that he had been following her because… well, because he loved her?
No, it’s not just an apocalyptic “we have to recreate the world” kind of love, not in his mind, at least. This was real. He’d fallen in love with her back when they worked at the coffee shop.... Click here to read the rest of the story!
I didn't get citronella like some people are saying. I got really strong apple at first but then when it calmed down the mulling spices and whiskey come out. I got a compliment at the coffee drive through at how good I smelled, so it's strong! She said I smelled woodsy!
I'm obsessed with Sucreabeille, like wear (at least) one of their scents everyday type of obsessed. Spiked Cider was my most recent purchase (that I've received already). I'm impatient so I absolutely did not let it sit and went straight to wearing it. To me it starts as a citronella which is odd considering the scent notes, but not bad, just unexpected. After it settles it is more of a spiced cider scent although on me the whiskey and spices are on the forefront with a touch of apple. I'm not mad at it, but I was a bit surprised. I do think I'll be getting the candied apple and maybe apple tree for a more apple fronted scent, but this most definitely a warm fall scent and as long as you're not looking for a strong apple fronted scent I would suggest giving it a try.
I’m not sure why but this smells like citronella very strongly. Not a bad smell but not what I was expecting. Once it fades a bit it smells more like apple cider. Unfortunately by the time it starts to smell like cider it’s so faint it’s hardly noticeable.
I picked this one because I wanted something that smells like apples (and fall, in general). I definitely found that in Spiked Cider. My only complaint is that it smells like Pinesol when I first apply it. But once it dries, it is delectable.
As you can tell from the bottle, this is one of my favorites!! The citronella type note mentioned by others dies down after a minute or two and then dries down to a glorious Fall wonderfulness-not quite cider on me, but I smell delicious. Like roasted apple with bourbon maybe? Gourmands like my skin chemistry so if you like those give this one a shot. I was VERY pleasantly surprised!!
I am obsessed with Sucreabeille! I'm usually quite picky about fragrances, but everything I've tried here is wonderful! Even the scents I don't personally care for are obviously of the highest quality and made with care. I also love the creativity and whimsy that goes into naming and describing the scents, and the bonus stories you can find in the descriptions. Sucreabeille all the way!
I SO badly wanted to love this scent because I LLLLLOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE a good spiked cider. But it's just meh. I think if there was no or even less sage it would be a winner
This one to me, reminds me of “Get off me Nature” that being said, is not a terrible thing. I like it, but reminds me of bug repellent I wear before I go camping, or hiking. Meaning I’m pretty sure that you can use this to repel bugs, or keep them from nipping at you. It has a strong citronella presence. I’ll definitely wear this on nights out when I visit the mid west this summer!!
I thought this scent was kind of a letdown - in the bottle it smells very sharp, almost like citronella oil. While I have been followed by bees when wearing very fruity perfume oils (??? idk bees), I don't particularly want to smell strongly of that. Now, granted, hard cider does have a pretty sharp taste/smell, but I just was hoping that the sage would soften the edges. Unfortunately for me it didn't soften too much. It doesn't have a strong citronella scent after the dry-down, but still a pretty sharp apple.
Spiked cider (on me) starts off with a strong citronella scent for some reason and then dies down to what the scent notes are listed as. It's odd but I'm not mad. My boyfriend refers to it as "the perfume that smells like one type of candle and then another type of candle". And he's not mad about it either.
I was very excited for this scent as I love all things fall and apple, etc. This did not smell like any of those things on my skin. Bug spray. Very well-known bug spray that wouldn't come OFF. If you love fall scents, skip this one and grab Book Witch or Smoke and Decay.
Found you from the podcast Old Gods of Appalachia and I'm in love! Got a roll on of, here's the thing, fuck everyone. And the next one will be the Spike Cider. Can't wait to be able to try more items. Love the samples and they actually close!
Spiked Cider is pure bourbon on me when it's wet, but then the most beautiful scents come out as it dries. The cinnamon and the cloves are subtle and play well together. The sage ties it all together. Very happy with this one!
Did you ever go into a store that sells candles and incense and just stand there, taking deep breaths and wishing you could bottle that smell up and carry it all day? I've tried four Sucreabeille fragrances so far, and they all smell just like that. A dab on each wrist in the morning will last all day.
I bought this and 6 other sample vials and this scent is by far my favorite. It definitely smells like cider in the bottle but once it hit my skin I got a huge wiff of citronella. Which scared me, because I'm not a big fan of that smell. It turned into a sweet spiced cider scent soon thereafter. And wow, it's perfect for fall. Can't wait to wear it daily now!
It's definitely more bourbon forward on me, and I couldn't pick up a lot of apple, but it smells DIVINE on my fiance! Just a touch sweet, like a hot toddy perhaps?
