Scent Notes: Two vanillas, chai tea, sticky benzoin resin, white amber, and many, many old books.
You’re walking back from the library, two tote bags full to bursting in your hands. Yes, it might look extreme, but you had holds come in and you’re not NOT going to wander for an hour or three throughout the rest of the library since you have to go there anyway. It only makes sense. Everyone greeted you by name when you walked in, and they held a few books back for you when you left as you had maxed out your at-a-time limit. But that’s okay; you’ll be back next week to return several books and pick up a dozen or so more.... Click here to read the rest of the story!
I have almost all of Suc's witch scents, but Book Witch, though it's always been at the top of my list, just somehow got overlooked and I kept forgetting to order it. So, I finally have it in hand, and I am so happy I do. I've always loved vanilla scents, but here, the chai element makes it so much more interesting! The amber and benzoin ground the scent, making it last -- and putting it at the top of my list of Sucreabeille favorites!
I got this a mystery roller ball and was pleased because I was curious about it, but I didn’t expect to like it enough to buy a full bottle because I already have one of Lorem Ipsum. I was wrong. While initially it opened with the smell of books and dried down to the sweet coziness of chai when I first tried it, it has transcended those impressions to become my dependable comfort daytime scent. It was the first perfume a friend ever complimented me on while I was wearing it (“You smell good! It’s really soft.”).
I absolutely adore this fragrance! Its a very sweet sugary smell but all grown up and sultry/seductive. It definitely indulges in my bookish fall vibes going into the end of September. I will be sad if I cant every buy this again im kinda sad its retiring 😅. Considering buying a second bottle tbh!
Please do not ever retire this scent. I will admit at first I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. After letting it sit for about 10 days I went back and smelled it again and wow. It makes me feel warm and cozy and truly smells like sipping chai in a bookstore. Will absolutely purchase this over and over again 🌙📖🔮
When I saw the name of "Book Witch" on a new perfume, I knew my wife would LOVE it. And just look at the photo she sent me right after trying it out! (The new metal rollerball took some tweaking to get used to, but the EXCELLENT customer service team at Sucreabeille came through and it was perfect!)
Book Witch was part of my first ever Suc purchase. I bought a sample size and my next purchase included a 10ml roller. Oh, it is just the best. If I ever try a scent I don’t like, I wash it off and cover it with Book Witch and I’m happy again. It’s soft, pleasant and literally reminds me of all those YouTube fall rainy cafe ambiences. ❤️
I was so devastated to see this scent is being retired! Just ordered another backup bottle. This scent is amazing and the magic Sucrabeille was able to work capturing the true scent of old books and blending it with the other notes to make it a photo realistic image of being cuddled into an oversized chair in front of a corner window in an old book store was absolutely stunning. I really hope you revive this scent down the road. It’s so special and I genuinely ache thinking it’s going to be gone so soon.
This was one of my first favorites upon discovering Sucreabeille. It's hard to describe, but absolutely lovely. Tea and vanilla and old books is what I think of when I smell it. I've been waiting for it to come back in stock so I can buy a rollerball, and that day has come! I highly recommend it
Ah, Book Witch is everything I hoped it would be! I took the advice on the package insert and let it rest two weeks after shipping and it did indeed smell a lot different than when I first got it.
This is my first Sucreabeille purchase and I will definitely be back. A very different scent from my usual, but a fun change of pace. It certainly inspires visions of a lovely old library with stacks of books all around you while sipping a nice warm coffee as you search for the perfect spell!
Wearing this fragrance makes me crave cooler weather, cozy sweaters, candles and my favorite books. It does need to macerate for a few weeks but the wait is worth it
How could I sum up the perfection of book witch? It's every single cozy element of your favorite bookstore. On me, it starts out as a more gourmand-oriented fragrance with vanilla and chai spice at the forefront. On drydown, the lovely, delicate paper notes come through into a fragrance that always brings back memories of browsing through scores of used books and their gentle aroma. One of my favorite go-to scents!
I've never been a perfume person because most of the perfumes I've smelled in my life were overbearing and started me on coughing fits because I get suffocated. There was an ad on Facebook a long while ago from Suc for a free sample and figured I could stand to lose the price of shipping if I didn't like it. Book Witch sounded so cozy, so went with that. I was so excited when I smelled it the first time because it was everything I wanted it to be as listed (to me, at least). I put it on after I shower, before bed, and any time in between when I need that cozy feeling. I. Am. Addicted. I actually feel naked without my Book Witch. I can't express how much I love this company for making Book Witch. I love you, Sucreabeille!
I said "I love the smell of books, I wish I could bottle up that smell and put it on me", a week later a Sucreabeille ad pops up on social media. Book Witch is the first scent I tried, it came in a great sample pack that I purchased. I have purchased it by itself since then because I literally smell like old books and a hot cup of tea when I wear this. Brilliant!
Received as free sample for signing up for the email list. The fragrance is lovely. It started out smelling like a vanilla cookie. It's dried down to a musky, masculine scent on me. I reckon this would smell good on just about anyone regardless of gender.
Ok wow! This is what I chose as my free dram when I subscribed to Sucreabeille's emails. I will definitely be ordering a full 1oz size because I'm going to wear this nonstop. It's so warm, creamy, sweet but not cloying and it's unique. Warm, creamy & cozy vanillic amber doused in chai tea with a stack of old books on the side. I'm obsessed!
The scent is so light but sweet and comforting. I was worried that the perfume would betray me like another scent I tried and change notes when in contact with my skin, but doesn't. Definetly recommend if you don't like in-your-face smells.
Book Witch is probably the only perfume I wasn't in love with and I think it's simply because I can't place the smell. It's a deep, soft sweet smell and not the sharp sickly sweet that some vanillas can give off. I do smell vanilla, but not really the chai. I'm not sure what I was expecting the old books to smell like, but this smells more crisp and clean. It may be my silly nose, but it gave off a "trying to hide the smell of bugspray" vibe. A long-winded way to say that this one is on my list of "it's not you, it me." Because obviously it's well loved by others!
There are 3 scents I'm in love with. Book witch is my number 1 baby though. The smell just puts me in a good mood. I dnt care if i put to much. I need to be able to smell it! Lol so yummy
Love my Book Witch scent and look forward to more discoveries from Sucrabielle, the vial was true to description and hits all those warm, wonderful notes associated with curling up with a great book
Love love LOVE it! My favorite so far. Also my sons favorite (i make him smell them all lol). Going to but the spray bottle because i was this scent on everything! I dont even know how to describe it but it's wonderful.
I'm a nurse by day, stage manager at night so I'm always looking for scents that can transition. Bookworm is my new favorite followed by cream tea. MOD is unique, not for everyday, but nice and goth as **** is my new nightlife go to.
A friend recommended this store to me, and I am so thankful she did. I love my new perfume, and the little sample that I got with it smells amazing as well. I felt like I was opening a gift basket when I got my package in the mail. It was so beautiful and thoughtful and more than I expected to get for just a single purchase. Every part of the experience (shopping, buying, receiving, using) was phenomenal. I will definitely be back for more!
The weirdos (and by this I mean my vibrational family) at Suc are charming, smart, kind, generous, gracious and gifted. My scents come to me lovingly handmade, and even the ones I don't love find loving homes. One that smelled like Play-Dough on me was divine on someone else, and so it goes. Book Witch starts off pretty intense but she mellows beautifully. On me there's a touch of caramel and tea, with a hint of leather and old books, just really wonderful. Not feminine but not unfeminine, either, and I think many men would find this scent a wonderful change of pace. There is something wonderful about wearing a scent that people have to actually get close enough to smell, and to watch the eyes open wide with delight is a moment to treasure.
SOTD: Book Witch
From the description, heaven. In the bottle, couldn’t stand it so I let it rest. Still hated it in the bottle this morning, but on my skin? Ommmmggggg. So beautiful. The vanilla is perfect, not too heavy or cloying. Love it! 🥰
