Incense, graveyard dirt and suede. Resins of dragon's blood and benzoin. Indian sandalwood and elemi essential oil. Amber, Egyptian musk and smoke, and our blood accord.
The literal translation of memento mori is, “remember death,” though it’s often translated as the phrase, “remember you will die.” Yes, that sounds horrifying on the surface, but it’s a phrase of comfort. Without death, there is no life. Without darkness, there is no light. Death is what gives life meaning and purpose, and it doesn’t have to be this terrifying, looming presence in our lives. The recognition and acceptance of death makes life easier, sweeter, and more enjoyable. Memento mori, but don’t let it frighten you. It’s a reminder to live for today and to be happy and joyful in your life, while you’re living it.
Scent Notes: Incense, graveyard dirt and suede. Resins of dragon's blood and benzoin. Indian sandalwood and elemi essential oil. Amber, Egyptian musk and smoke, and our blood accord.
This one has been in my wish list for a while now, well worth the wait. The fragrance conjures up images of cemeteries in Salem and dusty mausoleums with stale incense. It reminds me of spider webs clinging to candelabras and ashes in an incense burner that has never been cleaned. Very much love the ambiance of this aroma.
I love this scent so much! It’s one of those scents that doesn’t sound like it’s going to work from the description, but is insanely good all together. It’s smoky and dark and makes me feel absolutely invincible. I’ve never smelled anything quite like this before. Try it!!!
It's a hot, humid and muggy summer day. You just got a notification the package you were eagerly waiting for arrived in the mail. You quickly slip on some flip flops and run out to the mailbox, shortcutting across the lawn, the dry thirsty grass crunching underfoot, the scent of it gently reaching your nose. You reach the mailbox, fiddling with your keys to finally get the perfume you ordered a week ago.
Underground, a commotion. A fire ant colony is in disarray, surprised by the big titan foot that just stomped through the dried earth and is just staying there. The enraged queen commands a full out attack in defense. How dare someone rudely trample the beautiful colony she chose on this prime estate in front of the mailbox. An army of ants rush out, their polished red and black bodies bravely assailing the intruder's foot. They dig their jaws into the soft flesh and stab at the bites with their venomous butts. This is war.
You just finish getting your package out of the mailbox when you feel the pain. You look down and see your foot squarely in the middle of a soft fresh fire ant mound, with ants frantically biting and clinging. You yelp and hop on one foot, swatting at the fire ants, the dirt and ants flying, their spicy chitin armored bodies falling amid a cloud of dust. The remaining ants cheer in victory and flip you off as you madly scramble back to your house. The ant queen orders a regroup and rebuild ASAP.
You apply a cold compress to your red bitten foot, with little painful bloody blister bites from the ant attack. You console yourself by sniff testing the perfumes you bought. When you sniff Memento Mori, your eyes widen in shock... it smells exactly like an angry ant mound.
Memento Mori is beautifully haunting—it immediately transports me to my favorite cemetery or the quiet, somber air of a funeral parlor. The atmosphere it creates is both elegant and deeply evocative, perfect for embracing the gothic aesthetic. I can absolutely see myself wearing this to gothic events this summer; it lingers like a whispered secret, dark yet sophisticated. This is a scent I need more of!
I got this as a freebie and it’s not something I would normally pick. My husband is sensitive to scents and prefers more natural, earthy, scents. He has been smelling my hair all day and he loves this scent. Incense and so earthy like a cemetery at an ancient church. This reminds me of visiting my family’s crypt in New Orleans. Definitely recommend Momento Mori the scent and the hair oil.
I got this as a mystery sample in one of the stacking sales. I can only describe it as "essence of GMILF". Like, it's for sure a bad ass, gorgeous, classy grandma, but I'm not close enough to the grave for that yet. I let it sit for the recommended two weeks to settle before I tried it. Based on some of these reviews, I'll hold onto it and give it another shot in a month or so.
I got the 5 pack sampler, shipping was so fast, and when I realized there had been a mistake that was testified even faster. I’m so happy with all of my scents!
Memento Mori smells divine! It is true that the scent evolves over time. At first it smells a bit like a funeral parlor. Very floral, but as it dries down and melds with your skin’s natural chemistry, it becomes this unique, sultry, smoky scent that I am hooked on!
This is a darkly sensual scent. It makes me think of those haunting deserted street scenes of New Orleans, Paris or London; the cobblestone streets, and the secrets they hold. Love it!
Love the scent! I’ve purchased twice from these guys so far and loved both my scents, only complaint would be I wished they didn’t discontinue so many so quickly I found two I lived through the mystery drams that were already discontinued when I got them
I didn't put on perfume today because I knew my latest Sucreabeille order was coming in. When I received it, I immediately put some of this on. Smells like a mortuary filled with flowers and incense.
What a very curious scent this one is...
Initially, in its bottle or on the skin, it has a strong lemon smell that reminds me of Potion. That must be the benzoin. but once that lemon smell quickly dissipates, it takes on a whole vibe; it literally paints the scene of a grandparents old basement with the damp, cold cement draped in cobwebs, and that light, musty smell of dirt in the air. It is light and airy. The floral tones are very subtle but pronounced like the smell of any fabric that has been entombed in this time capsule of a basement, permeated by that strange smell in the air. It is unsettling and ethereal.
Amazing job, as always
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this ones. The notes sounded interesting and the reviews were good, so I decided to take my chances on a full-size bottle. I’m so glad I did. It does remind me of decay—like the sweet scent of flowers that are just starting to break down. There is something metallic, too… Maybe like blood. But the scent is robust and rich. This is not a dry and dusty fragrance. This is heady and full-bodied. I don’t imagine this fragrance is for everyone, but there is definitely nothing else like it.
i don’t remember exactly how i came across this brand in my hunt for a new scent but i am obsessed!
super fast shippping, unique scents, and good prices. they also always include some little samples.
10/10 recommend!
Memento Morí has quickly become my signature scent. And sometimes I am sensitive to scents but no headache from this and it lasts so long! It smells like what I imagine a temple full of ritual sex and sacrifice would smell like. So dark and sexy and intoxicating. And very gender neutral!
I loooove this scent! I ordered a 10 mL oil rollerball after I tried a sample vial and fell head over heels. It's so hard to pin down.. It's warm, and dark, and spicy, and sweet, and smells vaguely of decay, but in the best possible way--think lilies! I also get chronic migraines and I'm very sensitive to certain fragrances, but if I put this stuff on during an episode, it actually HELPS. And as an added bonus, it has my partner's stamp of approval!
I bought Memento Mori with the knowledge that I'd be wearing it for work and it stays on through my whole shift even though I work retail and am constantly moving and sweating, plus the label and name make it so much more fun to talk about! I love telling everyone about this company seeing as I also have Sea Hag and the tiny samples for Outlier and Air Witch were really appreciated! It seems like the samples are picked based on scent profiles of what you're buying, which I enjoy because I typically only go for scents like Memento Mori, so it helps me figure out what else I may want to buy
This one smelled better in the bottle than on my skin. I wore it for several hours and with my chemistry it smelled like subtle caramex. The scent seemed to fade on me quicker than other perfumes I have so it definitely seemed like my chemistry didn't mesh well with this one. However, I can see how it would be a great scent on the right person. It's not a bright, sweet scent. It's a little dark, a little spicy, and a little warm.
I bought this eau de parfum sample for the blood accord, and while I don't smell blood specifically it does have a very pleasant yet indescribable warmness. The other notes come thru very well, though more so when you're actually wearing it. It's so pretty on the skin as well! I've noticed that Suc perfumes are all very different when you wear them than they are in bottle, more so than any other brand I've ever tried. It makes them feel so personalized and special. I already placed another order of samples, but I think I need an oz of this!
Memento Mori is such a unique scent. It's strong, but subtle- you can definitely smell it, but without feeling like it is overpowering. Usually I can't pick out the scent notes, but they were all there for this one- the incense, the suede, the dirt. I wore it to a bar, and several hours later, I can still smell it, which is pretty long lasting for me. (Also, yay, I don't smell like a bar!) I'm going to be ordering a bigger size of this one.
This particular scent is very strong in the bottle. After it dries on your skin it is one of the most amazing scents ever! I've ordered several oils from this company, they are worth every penny.
So there are alot of versions of this in the indie market. This one is amazing. I love the incense smell with the a slight hint of decay. A beautiful fragrance .
Memento Mori smells like the funeral home my grandparents own and the aftershave my grandfather uses. It is strange, but comforting. I am absolutely getting more when I get the chance.
Memento Mori, is a rainy, foggy morning in the cemetery, with all the flowers drenched with rain, making the air damp, but a freshness lingering in the fog. Cedar wood, and suede, like the box that you could your new home to rest in someday, or if you choose, you can go to ashes, and be one with the earth again. Either, or we have to choose a door.. Memento Mori, a reminder that death is inevitable, but it’s your choice how you want to be laid to rest.🦋
I waited about a year and a half to write this review because I like to feel like I really know a scent before I review it. I consider this one of my "almost" perfumes. It's almost right for me. I love the earthier, muskier, smokier side of this scent. It's unique and beautiful. The drawback to this scent (at least in my opinion) is how metallic it comes off. It's from the metallic-tinged scent of blood, but in my opinion this perfume can come across more baking-hot-steel-of-a-playground than blood. When I ask people for their thoughts on the scent when I wear it, they say similar things, especially when it's freshly applied. On the dry down, the metallic side mellows out and you get to enjoy the sacred graveyard scent underneath it.
This is a good fragrance for those new to Suc. It's an excellent balance of floral with earthy and a bit of musk. There's something in this fragrance for everyone in my opinion and it's one I often suggest to others.
there is something about this smell that tickles the back of my brain and makes me smile. The smell of the dirt leather and smoke... is something fun happening?
This one was surprising. The way it mixes with my body chemistry gives a very "spicy, pumpkin pie" vibe, and while unexpected I am definitely not complaining. This is going to be a fall staple for me for sure.
Customer service was amazing they answered my question quickly and the sent of this perfume is amazing! Probably not for me but exactly what my husband likes for him! I got the sample size but will definitely order full size soon. And I got a free sample of ruthless b absolutely love that one so going to order that for myself soon! All in all awesome customer service, awesome quality product, even the sample size is beautifully designed.
Wow. Literally speechless. It smells like I just walked out of a Renaissance Fair or a middle eastern bizarre. The greatest smelling cologne I've ever purchased. It may not be for everyone but if you love the way an insense shop smells, then this is it. Incredible.
