Jake: The thing with frogs is they got a real subtle smell. Kinda like when you open up a new thing of, um... CDRs.
Finn: Like... electric celery?

Recently I became mildly obsessed with finding a signature scent. I've never been a perfume girl. Every scent I've sampled at a perfume counter or in a magazine (remember magazine perfume ads? 90s kids remember. we really had it all) either smells like the Avon lady or a migraine waiting to happen. At best, they smell pleasant for someone who isn't me.
I became aware of atmospheric fragrances that tell a story and was hooked. When I learned about Sound Of Static by Sucreabeille, I said gimme please. Just my luck, it's a seasonal fragrance and I was just in time to order it. I chose the rollerball eau de parfum and (im)patiently waited for its arrival. Today was the fateful day, and it was worth the wait. (Not that the delivery time was long, it was perfectly reasonable! I'm just... Patience is a virtue lol.)
The scent brought to mind the aforementioned exchange between Finn and Jake on Adventure Time, minus the frogs part I guess lol. No frogs were harmed in the making of this fragrance, or this review of said fragrance. It has an open air quality that I love, and a grounded herbaceousness to go with it. Someone else said it smelled cucumbery on them, and I can definitely see that. It's abstract in exactly the ways I hoped it would be. My next investment will be a full bottle of Sound Of Static, my new favorite scent. Then I will be venturing out to try other Sucreabeille scents because I am hooked.

A very nice scent!! Sweeter than I expected, it’s a bit cucumber-y on me, but extremely pleasant and clean. I’ve been wearing it all the time since I got it!!!
Sound of Static is wonderfully unnerving in all the best ways. It’s a fizzy tickle in your nose from pop rocks and soda. It’s all the hairs on your arms rising up just before your fingers glow from a static shock. It’s an old glass fuse box buzzing on a foggy night. It’s the way you feel when Cyndi Lauper hits that bubbly high note. It’s the smell of your electric race car track or when your X Box gets too hot. It’s a synthesizer solo while a theremin plays. It’s a breath of super cold air that makes your face and nose burn. It’s catching a shiny Pokémon or completing a perfect harmony in choir competition. Its anticipation and excitement mixed with a bit of terror and danger. This scent is weird and amazing. After I wore it for a bit I layered it with single note aldehyde and that was perfect.
I got the advent calendar for Halloween, and the first day was Static of Sound. Now, I have no idea how they managed to bottle such a clean ozone scent... but they did. Fortunately, the ozone breaks down a bit into this warm fall scent that reminds me of my family's baking trial runs for the holidays. This is a scent I would have never thought to try, however, I am now going to look out for scents with fennel notes.
I opted for the Halloween Advent Calendar because I love a surprise. This year starts off so strong with a very unique and electric scent. I would say it does smell like metal and basil and remains a very gender neutral fragrance. I wouldn’t say it is an especially fall scent, I think it will be wonderful for spring. Also, some of my favorite label art Suc has released thus far, nice and retro.
