An array of expensive, luscious lipsticks lazing on a mirrored vanity amongst jars of expensive cold cream. This smells like 1940s glamorous movie starlets getting ready for their close up!
Everything about Shannon’s life was a mess: her apartment, her job, her love life. Her boyfriend of nearly three years had just dumped her unceremoniously on the night she thought he was going to propose. She’d been so depressed by this that she’d missed a week of work because she couldn’t get out of bed. When she finally went back to the office, her performance slipped significantly, and now, nearly three months later, she was on a “formal retraining program” at work that basically meant “get your shit together or you’re fired, lady.” And, in that depressive state in which she was still living, she couldn’t get herself to take care of her apartment or her body. Takeout containers and dirty dishes littered the kitchen; clean and dirty clothes mingled over every surface in the bedroom. The half of the bed where her boyfriend had slept was now covered in a mixture of opened bags of chips and packages of cookies, clothes, a TV remote, a “personal remote,” candy wrappers, books, an empty wine bottle, and all sorts of other random things. The bathroom won’t even be discussed.... Click here to read the rest of the story!
Love this one. Very nostalgic. It reminds me of Jergens face cream that my mom and grandma used. Beautiful floral, comforting memory of soft rosey skin. The vanity with all the magic potions and make up. The pretty pink shade of the cream and the cold feeling of slathering it all over your face. Very soothing and pretty.
Glam Reaper was my wild card, I took a chance on it after the reviews piqued my interest. Glad I took the chance! This tiny lil lady really did it for me! The scent? It’s a touch old lady… but not one still among the living. This scent is haunted, vintage glamour. I imagine this is what the women in The Shining’s July 4th 1921 party photo would have smelled of. I’ll definitely be buying a larger bottle.
This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SCENT EVER!!! When I read the scent notes, I was intrigued and hopeful, but a little cautious. I thought, "surely it can't ACTUALLY evoke the image of old Hollywood starlets," but somehow it does. When I first put it on, my partner said, "It smells like the 1950s." This scent makes me nostalgic for a time and a life that I have never experienced. It makes me feel sexy, powerful, and terrifying. It almost feels too luxurious for everyday wear, but that doesn't stop me. :)
Out of the 10 samples I purchased, this was my favorite so I just ordered an entire bottle. It smells like roses on me and reminds me of the scent of Lancome makeup remover (which, to me, smells of rose). I like this better than Philosophy Ballet Rose which I recently ran out of.
Confession: I never would have tried this one based on the description. I only have the dram because Pumpkin Spice Pandemic was love at first sniff; I immediately turned around and ordered the 1 oz, which got me a free dram of Glam through the sale. When it arrived, I sniffed, thought "Pretty," and set it down.
Today, since I have nowhere to be, I dabbed some on. Now I am sitting here glorying in the smell of me and wishing I had somewhere to go. I smell far too nice to sit here makeupless in leggings and a tee.
Glam Reaper smells like a fancy evening out -- or a fancy evening in. It smells like a starlet in a black-and-white movie. It smells like liquid satin and shining waves of hair and lipstick that never smudges. I'm not even sure I'm qualified to wear it. LOVE.
